Happy Hellos

We're in the process of lots of goodbyes...And now we've had our first hello!  Yesterday at Patagonia, the outdoor retail store where Nathan works, a fellow future volunteer, Betsy, walked in and told the staff she was leaving for the Peace Corps in Togo in September.  Nathan just happened to be working and the two were able to meet!  It's a small world, huh?!  So we met this afternoon for ice cream at the local spot JP Licks.  It was great to meet and talk with someone who is going with us.  She's from Michigan and in town visiting her college roommate.  I just hope we didn't overwhelm her with all our inside information (ie Nathan having gone before)!  She just found out three weeks ago that she's going.  Makes our process seem very long!  Here we are...very exciting!!  Hi Betsy!

Postcard

Many of you will be receiving this postcard in the weeks to come...It has all our up-to-date information so that you can keep in touch while we're overseas.  If you're here for the first time due to receiving the postcard, Welcome!  I look forward to keeping in touch...

Sad Goodbyes

It has been quite awhile since I last posted and the impending move is only getting closer.  My French class ended yesterday (I think I've learned quite a bit!),  and Nathan and I have only one more week in Boston.  We are both finishing our jobs and are busy packing.  Next Saturday, we'll drive our car to North Carolina to stay with my parents and visit lots of family and friends.  We'll be there for 3 weeks!  I am excited to go and see everyone, but I know it will be full of sad goodbyes.

In fact, the goodbyes have already begun.  I went to NYC to see college friends two weeks ago and that started the long line of farewells.  We had an amazing, relaxing time reminiscing over lots of good times and are all excited about the futures that await us.  I'm just said that I'll miss events in their lives.  I just have to keep reminding myself that I will see them when I return and there will be many more exciting things in our lives to share together in the future.

We are also saying our goodbyes to our Boston friends.  While we are planning a final get-together in September right before we leave, we have been busy having last dinners with people.  Thanks to all my wonderful Div school friends for my wonderful slide show ;-)  If you're in Boston, put September 14th on your calendar for a last goodbye!

After NC, I'll go to DC for a weekend to see my sister and cousins.  And then one more week in Boston, staying with Nathan's parents.  It will be a hectic time of packing and last minute details.  I'm excited to go and get the adventure underway.  Just wish I didn't have to say "goodbye."
